3 teens kill 4 was born in the summer of 1980 in the east village of new york city. they took their name from a new york post headline. the group consisted of doug bressler, brian butterick, julie hair, jesse hultberg, david wojnarowicz. there was a conscious decision not to have a front person or lead singer. david made cassette tapes with voices and sounds that he held up close to a microphone, fast-forwarding and rewinding. julie tried different rhythms on a korg rhythm machine. brian played a casio drum machine and jesse was on bass. doug joined the group in time to make the debut album. he was a music lover who understood how to avoid covering over the band�s non-musicality. their debut 7-song mini-album �no motive� was recorded in fall 1982 and self-released in 1983.

2017 repress due to high demand and crazy online prices!! santuri s embaire umeme ep got a worldwide premiere from gilles peterson on a never-ending quest to support and exposure far off musical cultures around the world, the next on the corner releases sees them look to uganda. teaming up with santuri (an east african electronic music innovation project) and soundthread (a creative development non-profit), they have worked alongside the mugwisa international xylophone group with modern recording techniques and further re-arrangement on two remixes. the first, by sam jones, was premiered last week by stamp the wax, and today ushers in the second by alejandro mosso. a thudding kick drum at the first beat aims this one straight towards the early evening dancefloor. working in unison with samples from the giant wooden xylophone and conversations between the musicians, serves to place the track back into its original context and is allowed to settle for a couple minutes, before what sounds like a kora or zither brings a far-eastern twist. with the slow-burning, steady elements of a balearic production and the beguiling hypnotism of steve reich s work this is a big worldwide favourite.

in 2016. i rented out a small piano studio in east london for nearly the whole year and set out to write an introspective, trendless, and mostly beatless album. inspired by albums from this mortal coil and scott walker, who also sought freedom to work outside of the expectations of their previous work, i limited the instrumentation to mostly an acoustic piano and effects, which left space to expose a lot of emotional vulnerabilities about myself and people close to me. writing lullabies about being a mother in a dystopian world, with pensive words about swimming against the current as a female artist, i felt free enough to tell untold truths that i�ve never felt comfortable talking about within music. free, liberated, empowered. naked.

this releases includes little goat and ana bhebak, two middle-eastern-influenced tracks, which naturally came together for this special release. a take-off for the fusion of the old arab classic music with the new beat making, middle east meets west in this release, from buttering trio s temporary point of view.

i released the original 12inch volume of five fingers of death battle breaks way back in 1998, while i was living in oakland and then san francisco during a time of incredible movement and creativity within the suddenly exploding scratch dj scene. the term turntablist, coined by dj disk, had yet to really catch on outside of the bay area scratch fraternity. having recently moved to california from new york, pauls turntable aesthetics were strictly 80s east coast and was more concerned with catching doubles (beat juggling) and overall party rocking. in other words, the science of scratching was not something i was even contemplating.needless to say, i was completely amazed and overwhelmed with what djs like qbert, shortcut, apollo and mixmaster mike were doing. the north east of england is known for its role in helping to shape the uk house and techno club landscape during the late 80 s and throughout 90 s. it�s infectious and raw energy engaged slip-d from a young age exposing him to a number of venues including the riverside, empire, pleasure rooms and the hedonistic rockshots. drawing inspiration from the scene along with potent labels like svek, guidance and shaboom that came in to prominence in the late 90 s, a bedroom studio set up of amassed hardware funded on a basic income was then formed over time. residence in teesdale avenue, regular local car thefts and the wail of the rag and bone man all assembled themselves as a formula of what was happening outside the 4 walls of the studio. the vaulted hypnoelectronix no.1 finally got pressed after some years, and transports us to the true crux of that era. more material to follow in 2017 on the hpnx imprint...

the reveries begin with a simple electrical hum � a starting signal for the appearance of a vibrant array of sound, shifting before us in seemingly random motion. before we know it, all those pulsating melodies, razor-cut hifi-house beats and drunken robot jazz ensembles start forming into patterns, secretly & perfectly designed by one art alfie. a long time operator in stockholm�s small but insistent underground music scene, oscar wedrén broke through internationally in 2012 with the karlovak project, founded with on-off studio and dj partner rudolf nordström, a.k.a. mr. tophat. the duo�s inexplicably fresh takes on classic dance music tropes is as much a result of a brilliantly odd pairing of personalities as of a defined concept and a precise method in searching for the perfect house groove. while writing reveries of, released early spring 2017 through studio barnhus, art alfie freed himself of all conceptual footholds, delving instead deep into his archives of old and new memories and feels, working with improptu field recordings and emotionally-guided sampling processes. he came back with an intricate and personal debut album and he didn�t lose his groove on the way.
